Description
The 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda represents the absolute high-water mark of Mopar muscle — the year the E-body platform arrived with aggressive new styling, an expanded options list, and a range of engines that culminated in the legendary 426 Hemi. Even in its more attainable forms, the ‘Cuda delivered a purposeful, menacing presence that no other manufacturer could match, with shaker hoods, bold hockey-stick graphics, and high-impact colors that defined an entire era of American performance. Today, the 1970 ‘Cuda occupies a revered position in the collector car world, with well-sorted examples among the most actively sought-after muscle cars of the golden era.
This hardtop was originally built in Hamtramck, Michigan as a well-equipped 340 four-speed car finished in FF4 Lime Green Metallic — one of the signature high-impact colors of the era. A comprehensive rotisserie restoration addressed the quarter panels, trunk floor, and driver-side floor before the original Lime Green was reapplied, now complemented by black hockey-stick stripes with “415” callouts, a black rear wing and tail panel, a pinned sport hood, fog lights, and chrome exhaust tips exiting through the rear valance. The aggressive posture is reinforced by a lowered suspension and chrome Foose wheels — staggered 17-inch front and 18-inch rear — wrapped in modern radial tires.
Beneath that sport hood lives a 415 cubic inch stroker V8 built by Oddy’s Automotive of Elma, New York, dyno-verified at 485 horsepower and 504 lb-ft of torque. The bottom end features a forged Callies crankshaft, Eagle H-beam rods, and JE SRP pistons, with a Holley four-barrel handling fuel delivery and a Wizard Cooling aluminum radiator managing temperatures. Mopar Performance finned valve covers and performance headers complete the presentation. Power is delivered through a rebuilt A833 four-speed manual to an A31 high-performance 8¾ rear end with a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential and 3.91 gears. Four-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors and power steering bring the driving experience into the modern era.
Inside, the cabin has been retrimmed in black vinyl, with front buckets and a rear bench anchored by a Hurst pistol-grip shifter and a Tuff-style steering wheel. The factory-appearing instrument cluster retains its 120-mph speedometer and tachometer, while a Sony head unit, Alpine amplifier, and modern speakers discreetly update the audio experience. This is a ‘Cuda that honors its high-impact heritage while delivering the driveability and confidence of a thoroughly modern performance build.
