Description
The 1964 Ford Galaxie represents one of the defining full-size American automobiles of its era — a car that carried Ford’s flagship presence through the height of the Total Performance campaign, when Galaxies were simultaneously winning NASCAR championships and serving as the family cruiser of choice across the country. The 1964 model year brought crisp, squared-off styling with distinctive stacked quad headlights and a clean roofline that has aged into something genuinely timeless. Today, the ’64 Galaxie stands as an increasingly popular canvas for high-end restomod builds, its generous proportions and understated elegance providing the perfect foundation for ambitious modern engineering.
The body was stripped to bare metal and meticulously smoothed, with de-badged surfaces, custom billet aluminum hood and trunk hinges, and a show-quality chromed grille that incorporates additional cooling passages. A fabricated front bumper, smoothed firewall, and inner fenders reflect the obsessive level of detail. Finished in deep black and riding on 19-inch Budnik Remington wheels wrapped in staggered Michelin Pilot Sport tires, the Galaxie presents with a planted, purposeful stance.
Beneath the hood sits a 482 cubic inch all-aluminum Ford FE side-oiler V8 producing a dyno-verified 665 horsepower and 573 lb-ft of torque. Holley Terminator X electronic fuel injection with dual 1000 CFM throttle bodies, a custom Comp Cam, and a dry-sump oiling system combine raw capability with modern drivability, while hand-fabricated stainless headers feed a full custom exhaust with electronic cutouts. Power routes through a Tremec Magnum six-speed manual with a McLeod hydraulic clutch to a Strange Engineering 9-inch rear with 3.89 gears. A Roadster Shop Fast Track Stage III chassis with Penske double-adjustable coilovers and Baer six-piston brakes delivers handling credentials to match.
Inside, quad bucket seats and a full-length console are finished in custom red leather with brushed aluminum accents, complemented by a leather-wrapped fabricated dash, Holley EFI gauges, a GPS speedometer, Vintage-style climate control, power windows, and a JBL Bluetooth audio system. This is a Galaxie reimagined without compromise — a thoroughly modern grand touring machine wrapped in one of Ford’s most elegant silhouettes.
